About me and my practice

Currently 28 years service with the NHS with a background in the critical care setting, obtaining my Diploma & BSc in nursing studies, post graduate in health care and my MSc in Advance Practice, I have a level 2 certificate in both counselling and suicide & self harm prevention. I am currently the Team Lead for the Alcohol & Substance Misuse team here at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQMH) with cites to progress to our other sites for East Kent.

I am also studying at level 7 my Non Medical Prescribing (NMP) generic to addiction medications. Myself and my colleague work closely with the community services local to East Kent. I have insight in to the physiological & psychosocial aspects for the needs of our patients. I have brought East Kent Hospitals University Foundation (EKHUFT) Trust in line with evidence based guidelines and am involved with research aspects of post detox care adjuvant medications (Baclofen) with our gastro consultant, also shared cared pathways with the community services.

My service covers the NHS aspects from young persons, maternity complex patients, medical & trauma, critical care, coronary care, complex needs patients, homelessness and elderly care complex ARBI patients. This just a snap shot of my remit covering a 7 day service inclusive of bank holidays. As per Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) we constantly have to prove registration and up to date skills for professional status.
