About me and my practice

Currently working as a Live-in Counsellor and Case Manager in the bespoke treatment of addiction and mental health disorders. Primarily I work with youth clients but am experienced and trained in working with adults also. I hold a BSc (hons) in Addictions Counselling (First Class). I am developing specialist experience treating the co-occurrence of mental health and addictions disorders. This has led me seeking an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at Kings College London. I am committed to further bolstering my knowledge and professional repertoire. I am currently developing through CPD as a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapist. Two passions of mine are surfing, and cooking and I hope to incorporate both surf therapy and culinary therapy in my career in the coming years and groundwork is being done in these areas. I believe we need to engage people outside the clinical space. Mental health and trauma recovery is day to day, not only 50 minutes with a therapist, or in group therapy sessions. These can be vital of course, but they are only the beginning. I believe that by stepping away from the clinical space, we can detract from the labels and stigmas and help people see that living with any condition or experince is possible.

Recovery is in part becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable, looking at at areas previously not explored. Offering experinces that require more than simply sitting and talking can immensily support the therapeutic expeince as a whole. My previously career in Outdoor Pursuits showed me what is possible when people challenge their comfort zone. For some this may be to ocean, for others it may simple be meeting a new person for a walk, or learning to cook. The beauty of it is it is never the same thing twice, yet the outcomes are always extraordinary in relation to the person experiencing them.
