Daniel is Professor of Social Psychology at London South Bank University.

Since joining LSBU in 2007, Professor Frings has developed his research interests in social identity and group psychology. His work has received funding from a variety of sources including the Economic Social Research Council, the British Academy, Alcohol Research UK and Cancer Research UK. During this process, Professor Frings has developed a track record of securing funding and producing international peer-reviewed publications. He has a particular interest in addictive behaviours, with an active programme of work looking at the links between identity and addictive behaviours and recovery.

He is a reviewer for a variety of addiction focused academic journals and also Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Social Psychology.

Within LSBU, Daniel currently serves as Chair of the London South Bank University Ethics Panel. He has experience with teaching and course design at all Higher Education levels, serving as being the Programme Director for the BSc Undergraduate Psychology courses from 2010-13, and current Course Director for the MSc Addiction Psychology and Counselling.
